POEM #23
There's this great quote from Gretel Ehrlich in The Solace of Open Spaces: Fruition is also death; [...] ripeness is a form of decay. To be alive is to die one day. Why was I so set on doing a poetic rendition of The Wizard of Oz? I think I like the idea that we are going on a journey, but that the journey really just leads us back to where we started. And in between, there are ups and downs and the same ups and downs over and over again. How do we form a sense of direction for our lives knowing al this? We just do.
