If this is the game we're playing, let's play it poetic. Rowses is an ongoing body of poems by Ana Wang.
Free for all to read, available to purchase as 5x7" prints.
INFORMATION
Rowses is a concept store by Ana Wang/Wondermachine Studios featuring poems released via timed drops, presented within the familiar environment and context of an online store. Also: a playground, archive, and gallery of language, commerce, and culture, aiming to take short-form off screens and into physical spaces.
Ana's "poems" are about the tension and pursuit of beauty, wonder, power, and independence, playing in the lines between the language of ads and messages we see and internalize every day, the stories/myths we tell ourselves, and poetry. She's heavily inspired by cinema, fairy tales, icons both mythic and contemporary, and technology.
As commoditized "products", the aim is to de-centre poetry from its current extremes: 1) its precious and barriered status 2) free to be used but not valued—by disguising poems as colourful, physical objects with immediate impact a la the philosophy of flowers.
Rowses (sounds like "roses") comes from the saying, STOP AND SMELL THE X. See also: rouses (rhymes with "houses"), a nod to the power of poetry to wake us up.
Available for commissions, partnerships, and collaborations with brands and artists.
