POEM #13
I’m old enough to now read Sylvia Plath’s iconic novel, The Bell Jar (1963) and really get it, not just look over the horizon to anticipate it. And every day it’s like more figs are dropping dead, possibilities narrowing until I’m sure one day they will all disappear. If you garden, you know that you need to prune to get your flowers to grow. But I don’t have a garden; I’m a Millennial dreaming about them. Can anyone out there tell me if pruning actually works? While you’re here, have you ever visited tulip fields? They really do go on and on.
